About the Author

DeShon L. Brown is a transportation safety, risk, and governance executive with more than 23 years of experience across transportation, logistics, and complex operating environments. He serves as Head of DOT Safety & Compliance for Spur Freight Services Inc., where he leads enterprise regulatory compliance, safety governance, and operational risk oversight across multi-terminal transportation operations in the United States.

Brown was appointed by the Mayor of Austin to serve as a Commissioner on the City of Austin Urban Transportation Commission and serves on the Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) Board of Directors, contributing to transportation policy, infrastructure strategy, and industry safety advancement.

A Certified Director of Safety (CDS), Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (EHSP), and Class A CDL holder, Brown focuses on executive safety governance, organizational reliability, and aligning executive decision-making with frontline operational reality through system design, accountability, and foresight.

He is the Founder & Managing Director of D&S Portfolio Group Inc., a private holding and operating platform managing intellectual property, investment interests, and portfolio ventures, including G5 Global Enterprise Inc., where he oversees enterprise development, governance strategy, and long-term operating frameworks.

Brown is the creator of PRAEVIS™, an emerging executive-level operating standard for safety, risk, reliability, and governance in high-risk and complex organizations, and the author of Leading Before the Incident, scheduled for release in May 2026.

His personal leadership philosophy centers on leading with foresight — the belief that organizational outcomes are shaped long before visible events occur. His work focuses on helping leaders recognize early signals, design resilient systems, and act before risk becomes consequence.
